Jake DeBrusk: Officially Charmin Ultra Soft?

Sometimes you’re the problem. You just need someone to help you figure it out. Some people take that in two ways; by lashing out or by changing their game. I say all that to say this. Imagine being the guy that refused to play for Bruce Cassidy right now. That’s right…I’m looking at you Jake DeBrusk and you’re officially Charmin ultra soft.

Jake DeBrusk is forever remembered as the guy who wouldn’t play for the best coach in the NHL. DeBrusk, 26, requested a trade from the Bruins while Cassidy was in Boston. DeBrusk only rescinded the request after Cassidy was fired.

Yes, DeBrusk did have a career year scoring 50 points during a record-setting Bruins season. However, maybe the old coach had a point. Maybe DeBrusk should have been a little bit better on the forecheck. Maybe the Bruins wouldn’t have lost to an 8-seed then. The 200-foot game of DeBrusk is what Cassidy had a problem with. Maybe the career-high point total was part of cheating that 200-foot game.

Maybe some people need to look in the mirror. Instead of taking the criticism, DeBrusk pouted like a little girl and forced a coach out that just won the Stanley Cup. A coach that took over a team that didn’t make the playoffs a year ago with no real substantial roster upgrades. You see this Vegas team. They all are committed to defending. Nobody on Vegas had a record-setting point today but look where they are today.

Karma sucks, doesn’t it? Maybe Jake DeBrusk just had a better attitude. Maybe all of this wouldn’t have happened if Don Sweeney had a brain. Never forget that 2015 NHL Draft. Maybe the Bruins win the cup in 2019 if Kyle Connor is on the roster instead. The Bruins kept the wrong guy and all of the players in Boston should feel ashamed for making a really good coach the sacrificial lamb.

Karma… it truly is unbelievable isn’t it. Bruce Cassidy gets the last laugh. He is forever a champion while DeBrusk is forever remembered as Charmin ultra soft boy. You get what you deserve in sports more often than not. The proof is in the results and it’s hard not to feel like DeBrusk is on the total losing end. I’ll never view him the same again.

Cassidy won the divorce. The Bruins were left at the altar and deserved their fate. Sucks to suck.
