Lou Williams Wants To End Career With Clippers

Lou Williams will go down as one of the best bench scorers the league has ever seen. Lou Will has won the 6th man of the year award what seems like every year, but the 15th year veteran has bounced around the league a lot. Williams has played for the 76ers, Hawks, Raptors, Lakers, Rockets, and Clippers. Lou Will made it clear today, LA is his last stop.

In a recent interview with Ros Gold-Onwude of ESPN, Williams said he will end his career with the Clippers:

“This is it,” Williams said. “Listen, all teams out there, I’m not playing for anybody else after this. … That’s my leverage. I identify with this group of guys, I identify with this organization. I don’t see me finding that somewhere else.”

Later in the interview, Williams admitted that he had a hard time adjusting to LA after the Chris Paul trade when Houston traded him. He became fond of Doc Rivers and credits him for reviving his career.

“Never give up,” Williams said. “That’s my Clippers story, never give up. I was at a place in my career where I thought that I was done, and Doc and the rest of the guys rejuvenated me again and gave me that confidence that I needed to move forward in my career. And I’ve had the best years of my career with the Clippers.”

Williams, 33, is a liability on the defensive end but is still a big time scoring threat. He’s shooting around 41 percent from the floor but averaging 18.7 points per game through 60 contests before the corona break. Lou Williams is still under contract for $8 million per year this year and next year. It remains to be seen how long he wants to continue playing.
