Breaking News: Ángel Di María didn’t enjoy his short stay at Manchester United. Di María joined the Red Devils in August 2014 for a British record fee at the time of £59.7m, but only lasted one season before being shipped off to Paris Saint-Germain for £44m.
This week PSG goalkeeper Marcin Bułka told a polish YouTube show that the Argentinian’s time in Manchester left more than a sour taste in his mouth saying
“Di María hates Manchester United. He has no good memory of the time he spent there. In fact, when something related to Manchester United appears on television, he changes the channel quickly.”
This should come as no surprise to anyone who remembers Di María’s stay at Old Trafford as it was hugely underwhelming. His performances were hit and miss and he also had the traumatic event of having an attempted burglary of his house happen while he was inside with his wife and then one year old daughter.
He was targeted for abuse by Manchester United fans when he returned to Old Trafford with Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 for the Champions League quarter final. He was constantly jeered, had bottles of beer thrown at him and got the loudest cheer of the night when Ashley Young body checked him into the advertising boarding while both going for the same ball.
Di María got his own back that night by setting up both goals in a 2-0 win, while Manchester United ultimately had the last laugh winning the second leg 3-1 in Paris and going through on away goals.
The winger also admitted in 2015 after his move to PSG that he couldn’t wait to leave Manchester, telling Spanish newspaper Marca
“I had problems with people at the club, I started being left on the bench, then my home was robbed. It all just made me want to get out of there as quickly as possible.”

Given all this, it is hardly surprising that Di María has less than fond memories of the Northwest of England and Manchester in particular.
