Joe Thomas Gives Browns Stamp Of Approval To Draft Mitchell Trubisky

It’s no secret that the Cleveland Browns need a quarterback. The decision to not draft Carson Wentz a year ago is one that will likely haunt them for years to come. However, Browns All-Pro left tackle Joe Thomas recently said that if the Browns do decide to draft a quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky is the one they should select.

“I know that Mitchell Trubisky is probably the guy that has the most upside potential in a pro-style offense in the NFL, and I don’t see those other guys as obvious fits in NFL offenses,” Thomas said on WKRK-FM in Cleveland, via Ohio.com. “So if you’re going to take a guy, he might be your guy you want to take. With that being said, I think he’s only started for a year, so he’s got a lot of improvement to make before he is ready to be the starting quarterback.”

In my latest mock draft that was released prior to the combine, I had the Browns selecting Trubisky first overall. Trubisky is a Cleveland native and it’s no secret that the Browns are gushing over him. Cleveland has even gone out of their way to hide interest in him by not attending the North Carolina Pro Day.

For the record, I believe Trubisky is destined to become a bust in the NFL. I have a 5th round grade on him. Then again, should we be surprised the Browns are desperate for a quarterback?
