Markelle Fultz is Finally Here

It’s been a long road for Markelle Fultz. He was one of the most sought after draft prospects in the NBA draft. He went 1st overall in the 2017 draft. I’m still not even clear what really happened with Fultz, due to conflicting reports. I’ve seen that he wanted to change his shot due to shoulder issues. I’ve seen that he wanted to tweak his mechanics himself. Also, I’ve seen that the 76ers wanted to tweak his mechanics. All this and everything in between I’ve seen. So, I really don’t know the reason for Fultz changing his shot. All I know it was bad and the most God awful shot I have ever seen, and I had a pretty ugly jumpshot if I may so.

Although I will not say that Fultz shooting issues are fixed, before this season, he only played in 33 games. Which was so disappointing. He’s already played in 13 games this season, starting in 8 of them for the Orlando Magic (team preview here). Mostly, I am ecstatic that he is just playing. For this season, he is averaging 10.5 PPG on 48.6% shooting, 3.1 APG, and 2.2 RPG all in 23.5 minutes per game. As we can deduce, FG% is inflated slightly because of the lack of long-range shots.

I hope that Markelle Fultz can figure out this new shot or can go back to his old shot. I doubt he can go back to his old shot because whenever he had issues developing his new shot, the 76ers recommended that he go back to his old shot but it seems as if he couldn’t. Markelle Fultz was one of the best shooters, or frankly scorers, coming out of college. It all changed whenever he tried to change his shot. Imagine if he could score like he did out of college and was still on the 76ers. He would be the scoring the 76ers need right now. I hope that Markelle Fultz becomes what he was supposed to be eventually, it would be one of the best stories in the NBA.
