It’s an incredible Fourth of July for Oregon HC Dan Lanning, as news just broke that the nation’s top wide receiver prospect in the 2025 class Dakorien Moore has committed to play for the Ducks. Moore, the fifth-ranked prospect in the country, chose Oregon over finalists Texas, Ohio State, and LSU. This commitment comes as a bit of a shock as he had been rumored to land in Texas for weeks. He had also previously committed to LSU.
Dakorien Moore, a Senior at Duncanville High School in Texas, becomes the highest-ranked prospect since Kayvon Thibodeaux in 2019 based on 247Compositie score. He received a .0999 rating, while Thibodeaux received a .9987. The 5’11, 180-pound Moore recently took an official visit to Eugene on June 21st, where Lanning and company were able to turn the tides on his commitment and sway him from committing to Texas. This makes the 15th recruit for the Ducks for the 2025 cycle, and currently sit at 7th overall after the Moore news.
Dakorien Moore played a massive part in a Duncanville High team that went back-to-back in the Texas 6A D-1 Championships. He hauled in over 70 receptions last season for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns. Moore has pure home run speed, which should blend well in the Oregon offense. What makes him arguably the most dangerous is in the open field in run-after-catch situations, where he can let loose that blazing speed and good vision to evade defenders. Moore was a part of the track team as well, where he posted a 10.40 100m time and a 21.70 200m time. His Quarterback happens to be Keelon Russell, who took a major step forward this season and even earned an invitation to the Elite11 finals. Moore looks to become a massive part of the future Oregon plans.
