2025 March Madness: 10 Questions For Jimmer Range As A Casual College Basketball Consumer

March is about Shamrock Shakes and March Madness. I can safely report the over/under for Shamrock Shakes consumed is higher than the number of college basketball games I’ve watched this season. I watched one Duke game just to see what Cooper Flagg looked like and that’s the end of the list. With the NFL Draft build-up and hockey on every night, I feel like I’m more behind than usual in terms of filling out the bracket. So this is my way of saying what’s up to the Jimmer Range crew and hopefully throwing them a lob of love all at the same time.

I have 10 questions for the Jimmer Range crew. Feel free to ignore me because I don’t know what they’re planning content-wise this week. Regardless, make sure to join the Jimmer Range bracket challenge and the VSM one set up by Chickster.

10: Does the Cooper Flagg injury make it less likely people will pick Duke to win the title or did I just con myself if I pick them and ignore said injury?

If I do pick Duke, should I worry about the Jeremy Roach revenge factor game with Baylor in round 2?

9: Maybe this is stupid but it always feels like guards get you through the first two rounds. Just need a settling presence to ease your way into the tournament. Then the big guys are really what carry you through. I have no idea if that sounds inaccurate but it seems like what seems to trend year after year.

Bruce Pearl essentially said his guards aren’t sissies (except he said it better than that) and Johni Broome seems like he’s going to or at least in the conversation to win all these Player of the Year awards. Is it too cookie-cutter to just pencil them in the Final Four? I get that Pearl usually seems to disappoint in March but that’s exactly why it feels like this year might be their year. If not now when?

8: Do you ever pick games based on the location of the game? If so, give me a low-key homecourt cooking game that might make sense to fade what others are picking. I know Duke is playing in Raleigh for example but something beyond that.

7: Maybe this is wrong but it always feels like people will pick the trendy upset pick with the team that has a ridiculously good record. For example, people will pick Drake because they’re 30-3 or UC San Diego because they’re 30-4. I know that’s coming. I want to know the team that has a really good record but you think will get absolutely killed and will laugh at when people wrongly believe in them. Vice versa of that too if you’re feeling confident – bad record, will win.

6: Dana Altman is 8-0 in the first round of the NCAA tournament. I can’t remember the last time Arizona made an actual run in the March Madness. It feels like they got punked by nobodies every year. Am I safe to just write the Ducks into the Sweet 16?

5: It feels like everyone is going to get drawn to the Houston and Gonzaga draw. What if it’s one of those Chinese Farmer situations where everyone is looking at it wrong and it was really Georgia the whole time? I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the Sausage Party TV show but it’s hilarious. Anywho it would essentially be the equivalent of a Jeri Rice AKA Julius situation. Are these Dawgs tough enough to be the actual problem for Houston?

I like Tennessee in that region?

4: Teams I feel like putting on upset alert because the voice in my head doesn’t shut up and it’s telling me to do so (Clemson, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa State, Memphis, and Arizona). Talk me out of the stupid ones.

3: The signs are playing with us with this Rick Pitino / John Calipari cheese in round two. Maybe I’m seeing it wrong and Bill Self does it but it seems like they never win when they’re a lower seed. Do you have any reads on how the karma gods will favor Pitino / Calipari and do you think I’m crazy for putting St. John’s in the Final Four?

2: I love Karl for many reasons but one of them is the willingness to not pretend that everyone in this industry is wonderful. Credit to Karl for calling out Seth Davis as the loser he is. I care far more what Karl thinks than the mainstream people, which is why I’m writing this post.

Not that we have to go super negative with this. Maybe we can turn it into a positive. Who are the rising stars in the college basketball media space that we need on team Vendetta?

Tell Cervantes to call me more.

1: What’s the vibes tracker for Maryland? Go Terps?
