Moving on from the high school guys, we now have Kade Anderson out of LSU. A school that has more recently become known for its pitching talent. Paul Skenes anyone? Really, LSU has just become known for producing some great baseball talent, and Anderson seems like he will fit right into that narrative.

Kade Anderosn may not be as sexy of a prospect as a guy like Paul Skenes or even Dylan Crews. But don’t let that trick you into thinking Andseron won’t be a great pitcher at the next level.

The fastball, which grades a 60, is a great pitch, but not for the reasons you think. It sits at 92-94 mph and can touch 97, but most importantly, it has some serious lift to it when thrown higher in the zone. The riser can’t technically exist, but this pitch is as close as it’s gonna get.

As a freshman, he used a loopy low 70’s downer curve as his primary offspeed pitch, but since then has switched to a mid-80’s slider, which has the ability to be a true plus offering if he continues to work on it. The curve isn’t a bad pitch, just may not be the out pitch Anderosn was hoping it would be.

Finally, he has an excellent changeup with some solid run and sink, and has become a massive weapon for Anderson in creating weak contact and swing and misses.

Kade Anderson has a smooth and quick delivery, which allows him to routinely pound the strike zone. At 6-2 and 180 lbs, there is still time for Anderson to better grow into his frame and bulk up a bit.

Anderson’s fastball may never be a pitch that blows hitters away. It doesn’t need to be though, with his offspeed and ability to locate, his mid-90s fastball will be more than enough to keep hitters off balance.

I’d like to see him put on just a few more pounds. When I look at Kade Anderson now, I worry about the body(specifically the arm) being able to handle the workload. Aside from that, there isn’t anything wrong with Anderson’s game.

He has a repeatable, smooth delivery that allows him to throw strikes while having great command and feel for all four of his pitches. Some team within the top five will take a chance on Kade Anderson. Time will tell if they are right.
