2024 NFL Season: Week 5 Overreactions

We are already one-fourth of the way through the 2024 NFL Season. Through five weeks, we have a reasonable for who’s good, and who’s not! What are a few of our overreactions from Week 5? Let’s ask the team!

Trey Daubert:

Joe Flacco is way better than Anthony Richardson.

The Colts are lying to themselves if they don’t start Flacco the rest of the season. The numbers don’t lie. Maybe Richardson will develop down the line in the future but Flacco clearly gives them the best chance to win now. Richardson makes too many boneheaded mistakes that just kill you every week. The problem is the Colts have no chance anyway with the way they play defense under Gus Bradley. Flacco deserves his respect and the Browns clearly didn’t offer him a contract to return because it would have been obvious he needs to start over Deshaun Watson. Speaking of Watson … it’s time for Jameis!!!

Matt Hanifan:

Aaron Rodgers has turned the corner … in the wrong way.

Outside of his Thursday night Week 3 performance against the New England Patriots, Rodgers hasn’t looked quite looked as advertised. Of course, he’s 40-years-old coming off the most serious injury of his career. Plus any matchup against Brian Flores is going to be difficult. But Rodgers proved Sunday–overseas–that he’s not at the level he’s going to need to be at if the Jets want to be in a playoff chase, point blank.

Should we be worried about the 49ers’ 2-3 start?

I don’t think I am, but this is two two-score leads blown in three weeks. Brock Purdy has played out of his mind, all things considered. But they’ve fumbled away games they shouldn’t have … which has been atypical for them in a regular season context. They’re beat up, but I still think they’re talented enough to overcome this unexpected start.
