2024 CFB Best Bets of the Week: Week 7

Here, is another week of the 2024 CFB best bets series. Week six was one of the wildest college football Saturdays in recent memory. There were five teams ranked in the top 11 that lost and two of those teams were in the top five. No. 1 Alabama was upset by Vanderbilt and No. 8 Miami escaped Berkeley with a last-second win over Cal in the week 6 CFB Gameday matchup. Overall, my three best bets were all correct. However, I went 0 for 2 on my honorable mentions and I am now 0 for 2 on over/under picks. Now, there are great matchups across CFB with a lot of great conference games in week seven. Hopefully, we get another good week of games for my college football best bets in week 7.

I will say nothing is jumping out at me this week so we will see if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

*All lines are taken from Draft Kings and are accurate as of 8 p.m. ET on October 11

Overall: 5-1

Honorable Mentions: 2-2

Honorable Mentions: Washington ML, +125, Syracuse -3 Spread, -105,

Clemson -20.5 Spread, -110, No. 10 Clemson @ Wake Forest, (12 noon, ET, ESPN)

My first best bet is a hot Clemson team to dominate a subpar Wake Forest squad. Clemson has had a sneaky phenomenal season after a blowout loss to Georgia in week one. Their offense has been on fire as QB Cade Klubnik has thrown for over 1,200 yards with a 14/2 touchdown to interception ratio. I expect the Tiger offense to have another big day on Saturday throwing up at least a 40 burger.

Wake Forest can put up some points on their own but they had an absolute dud against an elite opponent in Ole Miss. I think Clemson is on that level if not better so the Wake Forest offense might struggle throughout the whole game. However, Clemson does like taking their foot off the gas in the second half but I will go against a back-door Demon Deacons cover. Ultimately, Clemson will be too much for Wake Forest and Clemson will continue their win streak in week 7.

Ole Miss ML, -165, No. 9 Ole Miss @ No. 13 LSU, (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN+)

This should be a fun game with two high-powered offenses. I’m leaning toward Ole Miss in this game because I believe they are the better team. I thought Ole Miss bounced back really well last week after their upset loss to Kentucky. I think they can ride that momentum into this tough matchup against LSU. However, this game being played at LSU does scare me a bit.

Overall, I think the Ole Miss defense is stronger than the LSU defense and I think the Rebels will have a better chance to find stops. I trust QB Jaxson Dart and WR Tre Harris to continue their amazing connection and carry Ole Miss in a shootout. I’m backing off the spread and taking Ole Miss in a tight week seven shootout.

UCLA ML, +160, Minnesota @ UCLA, (9:00 p.m. ET, BTN)

I will be taking my first outright upset in this CFB best bets series. Admittedly, this is a stretch pick as UCLA is on a four-game losing streak and Minnesota just beat ranked USC. However, I believe this could be a hangover spot for The Gophers after the big win. Also, they will have to travel across the country to play a late window game.

College football is unpredictable, especially after all of last week’s crazy upsets, so I think this could be a trap game for Minnesota. UCLA has played Indiana, LSU, Oregon, and Penn State in their last four games and I believe the Golden Gophers are a step down in competition. I think QB Ethan Garbers has shown flashes this year and the Bruins have looked competent at times. Also, I think UCLA will have an easier time slowing down a Minnesota offense compared to their last few opponents. Ultimately, I think UCLA has a solid opportunity at an outright upset in week seven. Finally, those are my 2024 CFB best bets for week 7.
