The 2023 NFL Draft Stock Report series is donezo! Well, for this year anyway. It’s time (insert Bruce Buffer voice) to talk about the National Championship game. TCU vs. Georgia is the talk of the town so let’s get to it. What do you need to know for the draft? We’re going to talk about it.
This game was over five seconds in. I had a feeling this was going to happen but didn’t want to sound like a hater because what TCU did this year should be viewed as an accomplishment. Neverthless, there is only so much you can take away from a blowout. What should be obvious is what I’ve been saying for years. Georgia has better players than everyone else. Have you figured that out yet? No, I don’t want to hear about how Michael Mayer is better than Brock Bowers. Do you get it now? 65-7 when Georgia gives you their A game. The top of the SEC is on a different level.
TCU
Our stockholders are not ready to make a call on Quentin Johnston. Here’s what I saw and why I’m leaning toward Garrett’s side of the argument. Johnston was covered by two NFL corners and that guy did nothing. I saw John Ross got bodied by Marlon Humphrey vibes. I saw Kevin White flashbacks. I see a semi athletic guy that’s not a real route runner in any sort of way. Georgia took him out of the game and it was like he was never really there. How’s one catch for three yards?
Stetson Bennett outran Dee Winters. You saw what I saw, right? We know he’s undersized. Is the 40 time going to be underwhelming here?
What are your expectations with Max Duggan? That’s what I want to know. You saw him against an NFL defense. High how you willing to go there? Cause… I’m out on anything inside of day two.
Georgia
The Georgia defensive front is just ridiculous. A lot of these Georgia defenders I love are underclassmen so we’ll keep it moving. Other than Jalen Carter. We’ll talk about him. We can talk about the stats or whatever. All I know is that guy kills you on every play. He blows things up. Those guys like that change the game when you provide constant interior pressure. It’s a tank human. I want him if I’m turning the card in for anyone.
Christopher Smith is going to be a steal for someone. Had a forced fumble in this one and can play the ball. He’s the vet on the team and really stabilizes things. He’s going to go in the 5th round and will be the Kerby Joseph for someone.
Okay, I’m going to say it. I think I like Kenny McIntosh the most out of these running backs. He’s a way better runner between the tackles than anyone wants to give him credit for. At minimum, will be a really good receiving back. Eight carries for 50 yards. I’m just saying…
I saw Daijun Edwards catch a pass. That was cool. Still such a Tazz. Do think he will create yards after contact at the next level. Not slow. Then I saw him drop one which he’s going to do at the next level too. That was not so cool.
Kelee Ringo, man, what do you do here? I see playmaker but it’s so unrefined. Maybe that’s a good thing and I definitely think you can argue the best is still to come. Just because someone hasn’t done something doesn’t mean he can’t do something. Kelee Ringo might be able to do everything and that’s good. Personally, I’m a fan. Played damn well in this one too. Just athletically superior to these TCU receivers.
Stetson Bennett = Taysom Hill? What do we say? He actually can run.
