Happy Thanksgiving to all of those who celebrate! I hope you all feasted on great food, spent very valuable time with family … and watched plenty of NFL Football, of course. Speaking of feasting, let’s dive into our Week 12 fantasy football breakout candidates for Sunday’s abbreviated slate! Each week, we go over at least three fantasy football breakout candidates who could … you know, break out … in the upcoming week! Before we dive into which three players could break out this week, let’s see how we did in Week 11!
Let’s continue to build off it! Now here are our three Week 12 breakout candidates!
Likely does not have more than four catches in a single game this season, but will be Mark Andrews‘ heir apparent after he suffered a season-ending ankle injury last week. He’s still a questionable start because we won’t exactly know his usage in the pass game relative to Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham Jr. and Rashod Bateman, but I expect Likely to have multiple catches against a porous Chargers back-seven that’s continuously getting gashed by opposing pass offenses.
Minshew has finished outside the top-16 in fantasy quarterback production in four of the last five weeks. He was dominant Week 7 against a very good Clevelnd Browns defense, where he completed 15-of-23 for 305 yards and four touchdowns. In every other one of those four weeks, he’s averaged 172.6 passing yards, one touchdown and 1.3 interceptions. Coming off a bye, I’m tailoring towards Minshew having another breakout performance in Week 12 against a Buccanneers defense that’s been shredded, for the most part, over the last month. With a fully healthy Josh Downs in the fold, I’m banking on Minshew having a breakout week–maybe not like his Week 7 outing, but close(r) to it.
This is purely a blind play based on offensive coordinator Matt Canada getting canned. I still don’t have too much faith in Kenny Pickett to completely turn the tide with a new playcaller, but the player I have the most faith in as a beneficiary is George Pickens, who has 10 catches for a combined 104 yards each of the last four weeks. His target share has gone south since Diontae Johnson‘s return, but I’m hoping–for the sake of this longshot–Pittsburgh gets him involved more in Week 12.
