Merry Christmas everyone! Today, Santa Scott will be giving Christmas gifts to every team in the AFC, we are starting with the AFC North.
Outside of Myles Garrett, who is an absolute stud and should be competing for an All-Pro spot this season, that defensive front for the Browns leaves a lot to be desired. Make no mistake about it, Deshaun Watson has been playing like crap but that is to be expected from someone who was about 700 days removed from a regular season football game (and no that is not an exaggeration, it might even be underselling it). The Browns would hope he can figure it out and he probably should be able to figure it out considering the level he played at two seasons ago but the rust is real this year. Having a defensive front be able to perform outside of one guy consistently is how the Browns can be the Super Bowl team they think they are.
We saw Burrow take his game to another level last season, and then regress heavily at the beginning of this season. His play has returned to an elite level, and my gift to the Cincinnati Bengals is for Burrow’s elite play to continue and avoid the massive dips that they have experienced.
I am giving them the exact same gift as last year because like socks and underwear the Ravens need this gift a lot more than you would expect. Injuries to their defense and to Lamar Jackson have derailed a promising-looking season. If they could just stay healthy, they would do so much better.
Matt Canada just is not it. His playcalling is repetitive. Last night against the Raiders the Steelers won the game with a jet sweep when Las Vegas was selling out to stop the inside run, it was about time one of those jet sweeps worked.
All AFC North teams are enjoying the best Christmas gift of all, a victory. Except for the Browns, who lost to the Saints and officially got eliminated from playoff contention.
