Pelicans Win 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, Secure Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson, welcome to New Orleans. The Pelicans have officially won the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery. The Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Lakers all jumped up into the top 4 to secure higher picks. David Griffin strikes again! Below is the official order for the draft.

Out of all the possibilities, I did not see the Pelicans winning. In my head, it was where are the picks going to land and how will it impact the eventual Anthony Davis trade. Well, it just so happens that Davis’ team won the lottery. Davis wants out. Maybe he still wants out? All I know is all eyeballs are now on Davis.

Quick mock draft here. I would think it goes Zion to New Orleans. Ja Morant and RJ Barrett go 2 or 3. Swap them if you want. It seems like a 3 player draft. After that, it appears to be a complete crapshoot.

I’m still stunned the Pelicans won. This changes everything. This is a franchise that seemed screwed just hours ago. Davis wanted out and they had zero options. Now they have the best young asset in the league and can replenish that even further with a Davis trade. Maybe Davis wants to stay now? That’s all I got.
