WWE Legend Reportedly Due To Replace Brock Lesnar At SummerSlam
Brock Lesnar was set to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. That is, until he walked out of Friday Night Smackdown. Lesnar recently returned to WWE television for the first time since losing to Roman at WrestleMania. His future is now in jeopardy since he walked out of Friday Night Smackdown.
Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE today. It came as a shock to the professional wrestling world. He stepped down from CEO while he was being investigated for sexual misconduct allegations against him. He still remained as head of creative during that time, but he will now be retired from all of his duties within WWE.
The July 22nd show of Friday Night Smackdown was supposed to be heavily revolved around Brock Lesnar. Lesnar reportedly walked out of Friday Night Smackdown after he heard the news of Vince McMahon retiring. There have been reports that Lesnar said something along the lines of “if he’s gone, I’m gone.” WWE was in flux after Lesnar’s actions, and worked to rewrite the show based on him not being there.
Goldberg Reportedly Set To Replace Lesnar At SummerSlam
WWE legend Goldberg is being considered to replace Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, according to Wrestling News. There is hope that WWE can convince Lesnar to return for SummerSlam, so they will hold off on announcing a replacement for him. Goldberg revealed he is still under contract with WWE, despite fulfilling his match number requirements. He claimed he was in pretty damn good shape and was waiting for a phone call from WWE. Nothing has been announced yet from WWE. With it being reported that they’re trying to get Lesnar back, I wouldn’t expect an announcement of him being replaced any time soon.
