Why the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl LVII

Ok well, I got the Eagles side of this article done, so now it’s time to go against my entire ideology and attempt to explain why the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs certainly have the top-end talent to secure yet another Lombardi trophy. But will the play of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce be enough to take down this loaded Eagles team? Let’s go through and see what these Chiefs need to do to secure a win this Sunday.

Andy Reid’s offensive mind isn’t fair

I think we are at a point where we can all agree that Andy Reid might be the greatest offensive mind we’ve seen in the NFL. His ability to create plays and schemes that can work with any offense has been proven time and time again. Eagles fans themselves have seen this ability firsthand. He made Alex Smith look like a great quarterback at times and has surely taken part in the development of Mahomes. He even had Nick Foles looking like an MVP candidate.

His pure ability as a play designer is honestly marvelous to watch. And if you don’t think he’s in some room right now crafting up some magical plays then you clearly don’t watch Chiefs football. He is going to have his bag of tricks ready to use and I’m not sure if Nick Sirianni will be able to keep up.

In the big game, coaching becomes a hugely important aspect. Great young coaches have made it to this stage only to get outcoached. And in this case, you have an experienced Reid in his third Super Bowl vs. a second-year Sirianni.

Don’t overthink this, we see time and time again the better coach in the Super Bowls prevails. Reid is going to have a game plan to dissect this defense. It will all be dependent on if the Eagles can make the necessary adjustments. This offense lost Tyreek Hill and based on what we saw throughout the season you never would have guessed he was even there. This Eagles defense is in for a handful.

Andy Reid is a different monster when it comes to crafting an offense. And I’m sure he is going to have some special surprises for this Eagles defense.

Travis Kelce is a matchup nightmare

If I’m being honest, I think this reason is very closely tied to the last one. That being, Andy Reid’s offensive mind with the freak of nature that is Kelce almost seems unfair.

He is easily the best pure offensive weapon at the tight end position. I mean he is basically a receiver and frankly has better stats than a lot of receivers. He is a future Hall of Famer and will go down as one of the better tight ends in NFL history.

When watching Chiefs games, you see just how much fun Reid has with Kelce. Again, it’s just not fair. Kelce has the ability to be a great tight end almost anywhere, he is really just a freak of nature and the way he can move as a tight end just doesn’t make sense at times. But the fact that he fell into the lap of Reid has surely benefited his career.

I don’t know how Andy does it, but he seems to almost have a way to get Kelce open. Sure, some of it is Kelce’s natural ability as the best tight end in the NFL, but a lot of times, Kelce gets to run a route where he basically isn’t guarded.

While this Eagles defense has its fair share of playmakers, I don’t know who on this unit is going to stop Kelce. My initial guesses are that the Eagles will start by putting either Kyzir White or T.J. Edwards on him, though neither one of them is nearly fast enough to truly contain him and likely won’t end well. Zone or doubling him is always an option but that just gives Mahomes the opportunity to pick apart your zone and let someone else have a big day.

Mahomes is the best QB on the planet

A lot of people believe that top to bottom the Eagles have the more complete roster. And it is probably a true statement. If you took the top 15 players from both these teams, at least 10 would probably be Eagles. But the one thing the Chiefs have that can make up for all this is a man by the name of Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL. I’m sorry but if you disagree then you simply are wrong. He just makes the game of football look so easy, and it almost seems like he’s playing in slow motion at times. He’s played the last two games on basically one ankle and still made it look effortless.

Mahomes has the ability to single-handedly win this game for the Chiefs. The Eagles can do all they want on either side of the ball, but if Mahomes is in his bag come Sunday, the Eagles will have a very difficult time trying to win this game.

Jalen Hurts is by no means a slouch at quarterback, either. But it’s clear that he is still leaps and bounds away from Mahomes. Even with a worse team, you know that Mahomes is the best player on the field at any given time. Nobody would be surprised if he takes this game over and wills the Chiefs to a win.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Eagles game plan for Mahomes will be. Getting pressure early has always been a good way to throw off the elite quarterbacks. But if you allow Mahomes to get comfortable and get into a rhythm, the game might be over before you even know it.

The Prediction

Well, I know that this is a post on why the Chiefs will win, but I already did this post for the Eagles and had them winning by a field goal, so it would seem kind of silly to give a different score here. I also think it would hurt my credibility to predict both teams to win. At that point, I’m not even making a prediction anymore. So despite all these reasons, I do still think the Eagles come out on top. I expect it to be a very close game but I think the depth the Eagles have will be enough to give them the edge.

Eagles defeat Chiefs 31-28
