Why Does Dave Portnoy Continue To Attack Mina Kimes?

Dave Portnoy has a personal vendetta against Mina Kimes… but why? Well, that’s what we’re here to talk about.

About two months ago, Business Insider wrote a hit piece on Dave Portnoy essentially accusing him of rape. Time went by and it turned out that the BI story was a bunch of nonsense. We probably should have known that was going to be the case when BI made the Portnoy story hidden behind a paywall and tried their damn best to pull the clickbait cheese out.

During the thick of everything, ESPN writer Mina Kimes put this Tweet out essentially condemning Portnoy:

Portnoy does what he does best. Sends the attack dogs out when he feels like he has been wrongly slighted. Portnoy has put out a ton of Tweets about Kimes since. Recently, a random Twitter commenter called Portnoy out for continuing to call out Kimes for her Tweet. Portnoy explained why he won’t forget about it.

What’s fair is fair. To be honest; it’s hard to blame Portnoy here. Being accused of rape is a serious thing. To be accused of it and then have the information is false… yeah… I’d feel some type of way about it too. Especially when the people who praised the reporting on the information fail to retract the statement when it comes to something this serious. That’s BAD reporting and unacceptable in this field.

What’s fair is fair. I just wrote a blog titled: Are Men Gross? Guys suck. I empower women at this company more than any other CEO out there. Having said that, Portnoy has every right to feel the way that he does. It was bad journalism and for Kimes to co-sign it and then fail to retract it says everything you need to know.

I don’t have a horse in this fight other than not really understanding what Kimes brings to the table. Don’t get any IT factor to me with her but that’s not really the point of the story.

Should Dave Portnoy drop the fight and stop attacking Mina Kimes? Maybe… but that’s not who he is. As a guy who holds onto grudges, I understand it. The bigger question is… will Kimes say anything more about this entire situation?
