I’m back with my week 3 NFL Predictions. Last week, I went 10-6, which brings me to 22-9-1. So far, I’m not doing bad, I’d like to keep this winning record going as we dive into week 3.
The Tennessee Titans (1-1) are being hosted by the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) in the Week 3 Thursday Night matchup. After surprising all of us in week 1 with their dominant win against the Browns, the Titans continued their solid play narrowly losing to the Colts. The game was close from start to finish and ended up being 19-17. Marcus Mariota only threw for 154 yards, but he had no interceptions and threw for a touchdown. Derrick Henry continues to play well as expected, after having 84 yards and one TD averaging 5.4 yards per carry. The Colts defense is no pushover, but you’d like to see a little bit more from the Titans as their 3rd down conversion rate was a gruesome 10%. They’ll need to be better against a better Jaguars defense. For the Jaguars? Gardner Minshew. From the stache to stretching in the locker room in only a jockstrap, one thing is for sure: Gardner Minshew is iconic. He’s a pretty good QB as well so far. After Nick Foles went down, it only seems like Garnder was ready for this moment. Minshew has pretty decent stats so far in the first two weeks. He has 3 TDs and 1 INT so far. The Jaguars also narrowly lost to the Texans on a bold (stupid) call by Doug Marrone to go for 2 for the lead. They held Deshaun Watson and the Texans to 13 points, let’s see how they do against the Titans.
Final Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars 16, Tennessee Titans 13
The Detroit Lions (1-0-1) are traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles (1-1). Detroit has to be the most unpredictable team this NFL season, as they choked a tie to the Cardinals in week 1 and then beat the formidable Chargers in week 2. I honestly don’t know what to make of them to until I see some consistency from them, I’m just gonna wing their picks. I will say that despite having a lot of talent on the team, Matthew Stafford is playing well so far. He did throw two picks against the Chargers last week, but I respect the Chargers defense. The Eagles have started slowly in both games this year and then make a second-half push to try to win. After being down 6-17 on the road against the Falcons, they scored 2 TDs to put them up 3 points with about 3 minutes left in the game. Julio Jones preceded to score on a 4 and 3. I credit the Eagles though, they were dealing with injuries all game long and had a fighting chance until the end. Unless something unpredictable happens (Lions, eye roll), the Eagles should handle this one.
Finals Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles 24, Detroit Lions 20
The New York Jets (0-2) are being hosted by the New England Patriots (2-0) in week 3. We can finally appreciate how good Sam Darnold makes the Jets, cause the offense looked TERRIBLE. Granted the Jets are now on their 3rd string QB (YIKES) after Sam Darnold got Mono and Trevor Sieman suffered an ankle injury. However, it doesn’t matter who’s playing QB as the Patriots are going to roll over the Jets anyway. The Patriots have Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon, and Julian Edelman, with Tom Brady still at the helm. At this point, I’d be surprised if the Patriots don’t go 16-0.
Final Prediction: New England Patriots 31, New York Jets 16
The Oakland Raiders (1-1) are traveling to Minnesota to take on the Vikings (1-1). The Raiders got SMACKED last week, more specifically in the 2nd quarter. My dad smashed a cup on his desk after the Chiefs toasted the Raiders secondary 4 times for a TD. I proceeded to turn off the TV and left the house after watching that disaster of a quarter. I don’t have much analysis after that, Josh Jacobs continues to play well, averaging 8.3 yards per carry on Sunday, and Darren Waller continues to become a stud with 6 receptions and 63 yards. Look for them to continue to contribute this week. The Vikings had a difficult game, especially Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins only completed 14 passes out of 32 attempts and had two INTs. The Vikings let the Packers go up 21-0 before they scored any points. Cousins will look to bounce back against a porous Raiders secondary.
Final Prediction: Minnesota Vikings 24, Oakland Raiders 20
The Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) are hosting the Baltimore Ravens
(2-0) in this week 3 matchup. This is the game of the week to watch. The Baltimore Ravens have been an explosive offense even if it was against the Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals. Lamar Jackson has been a great dual-threat QB thus far and has put the Ravens on the map. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has been great to watch as well. The Chiefs are the other explosive team in this matchup. Patrick Mahomes simply cannot be stopped. He put 28 points up on the Raiders in just the 2nd quarter. Even without Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs offense is simply unstoppable. This game will be a shootout with plenty of big plays. DO NOT MISS THIS GAME!
Final Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs 34, Baltimore Ravens 27
The Indianapolis Colts (1-1) are hosting the Atlanta Falcons (1-1) this week. The Colts had a hard-fought win against the Titans last week and ended up coming out on top. The Colts are in good hands with Jacoby Brissett because he has played well to keep them in both games they’ve played. He hasn’t thrown many yards but he has only thrown one INT. As long as he takes care of the ball, the Colts have the chance to be in most games. After a rough showing against the Vikings, the Falcons stepped up last week to take on the Eagles. Although they gave up a 17-6 lead to lose, they came back and won 24-20. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are still good as ever, they connected on 5 receptions for 105 yards and two TDs, including the game-winning TD. In this game, the Colts defense will try to restrict Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, if they can do that, I have them winning this game.
Final Prediction: Indianapolis Colts 20, Atlanta Falcons 17
The Denver Broncos (0-2) are traveling to Green Bay to take on the Packers (2-0). The Broncos looked like they had a win against the Bears but they somehow choked it in the last minute after scoring a TD. The Broncos now have lost to the Raiders and the Bears and are desperate for a win. Unfortunately, that win won’t come this week because the Packers are on a roll right now. They beat the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. Those teams are better than the Broncos, so they should be able to handle them. I can never say enough about Aaron Rodgers, he’s just too damn good and keep you in ANY game. With the Packers improved defense, they should overwhelm the Broncos offense.
Final Prediction: Green Bay Packers 21, Denver Broncos 13
The Miami Dolphins (0-2) are being hosted by the Dallas Cowboys (2-0) this week in what should be a blowout. The Dolphins are still in full tank mode as they traded away one of their best players in Minkah Fitzpatrick for a first from the Steelers. This team is absolute garbage and might be the worst 0-16 we will see ever. The Cowboys continue to look good even if it is against lower-end teams. They have beaten the Giants and the Redskins and will go 3-0 after this week. There’s really no need for any analysis on this one.
Final Prediction: Dallas Cowboys 24, Miami Dolphins 3
The Buffalo Bills (2-0) are hosting the Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) in this week 3 matchup. The Buffalo Bills continue to impress, more specifically Josh Allen. They’ve had a nice comeback win against the Jets in week 1 and a good win against the Giants. Surprisingly enough, the Bills have a chance to go 3-0 against the Bengals. Singletary might be out this week so Frank Gore might have to do more than what he is used to keep the Bills in the game. But the connection between John Brown and Josh Allen seems strong. The Bengals, after almost beating the Seahawks, got smashed by the 49ers last week 41-17. With the trio of John Ross, Tyler Boyd, and Joe Mixon, they have a shot to win if Andy Dalton shows up. He’s been on the hot seat for a while, his time is running out to make something out of himself. I don’t expect much from them, but if they were to get a win under the belt, this might be a good time to do it.
Final Prediction: Buffalo Bills 23, Cincinnati Bengals 20
The New York Giants (0-2) are traveling to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers (1-1). The Buccaneers had a great win against the Panthers on Thursday Night football. They contained Christian McCaffrey and forced Cam Newton to throw. That’ll be the gameplan they go with when facing the Giants. They’ll try to contain Saquon Barkley and force now the starter, Daniel Jones, to throw. Hopefully, Jameis Winston has a good game against a bad Giants defense, if he does it’ll be game over. IF he doesn’t, he’s just proving that I think he’s a bust. The Giants will try to run the ball as much as they can to transition Daniel Jones into the game. I don’t think he’s much of an upgrade from Eli Manning, but we will see how he does in his first NFL start.
Final Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21, New York Giants 13
The Arizona Cardinals (0-1-1) are hosting the Carolina Panthers (0-2). The Panthers looked bad against the Bucs. There’s a possibility that Cam Newton may not play this Sunday due to an injury which makes the Panthers gameplan one-dimensional. If Cam doesn’t play who is the backup? Hold on let me google it…okay got it, Kyle Allen. Ring a bell? Yeah me either. Time is closing in on Cam Newton, the Panthers need to start looking about life after him. The Cardinals have been surprisingly decent despite their record. They came back in week 1 to tie the game and only lost to the Ravens by 6 points. Kyler Murray has been splendid so far, he should be able to handle the Panthers. Given the circumstances, the Cardinals will win their first game of the year.
Final Prediction: Arizona Cardinals 17, Carolina Panthers 13
The Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2) are traveling to San Fransisco to take on the 49ers (2-0) in this week 3 matchup. The Steelers suffered an enormous blow last week losing Ben Roethlisberger for the season, maybe forever if he decides to retire. Mason Rudolph is in the driver seat now and has James Conner and Juju by his side. He might be able to lead this team to victory. The Steelers made an attempt to bolster their secondary with their trade for Minkah Fitzpatrick, we’ll see if it makes an immediate difference. As much as the 49ers have been playing well, I can’t buy the hype YET. They’ve played the Buccanneers and the Bengals. I need to see if they’re legit. The Steelers could be that statement win they need if they have Ben Roethlisberger. However, not to discredit Rudolph, but he’s not Ben. He did play well and almost led the Steelers to a win last week against the Seahawks. Both teams are looking for a statement win. We’ll see how it plays out.
Final Prediction: San Fransisco 49ers 24, Pittsburgh Steelers 21
The New Orleans Saints (1-0) are being hosted by the Seattle Seahawks (2-0) this week. Unfortunately for the Saints, Drew Brees is out and the keys are being handed off to Terry Bridgewater for the time being. The Saints still have explosive weapons, but there is a bit of a downgrade from going from Brees to Bridgewater. However, if he can get going, this can be a statement win for the Saints. The Seahawks haven’t really been themselves this year. They’ve narrowly won against the Bengals and the Steelers. If the Bengals weren’t enough, the Steelers lost their QB in Big Ben, and narrowly won against them as well. The Seahawks are lucky that Drew Brees is out because I think they would get smoked if he was playing. Being that is not the case, expect the Seahawks to win this one, probably narrowly again.
Final Prediction: Seattle Seahawks 28, New Orleans Saints 24
The Los Angeles Chargers (1-1) are hosting the Houston Texans (1-1)in this matchup. The Texans BARELY beat the Gardner Minshew and the Jaguars, mostly because of a head-scratching call by Doug Marrone to go for two. The duo in Watson and Hopkins is deadly, given that Deshaun Watson is one of the best in the game. The Chargers secondary has been suspect, look for them to exploit that. The Chargers had a bit of a head-scratcher themselves losing to the Lions last week. I’m slowly losing the confidence I had in the Chargers even if it has only been 2 weeks. I expected this offense to be ruthless and it just hasn’t. This one is a toss-up and I’m going out on a limb here.
Final Prediction: Houston Texans 27, Los Angeles Chargers 24
The Los Angeles Rams (2-0) travels to Cleveland to take on the Browns (1-1) in our week 3 Sunday Night matchup. The Rams have narrowly beat the Panthers and beat the Saints without their Hall of Fame QB in Drew Brees. The Rams won convincingly after that 27-9. Sean McVay is a genius and will be looking to exploit the overhyped Browns. The Browns look…..bad. The Jets were on their 3rd string QB and despite how the score looked, the game was closer than you think. I hate to do the If hypotheticals but if they had Sam Darnold, the Browns are in trouble. The Browns are still the Browns and that’s becoming more evident every week.
Final Prediction: Los Angeles Rams 31, Cleveland Browns 20
The Chicago Bears (1-1) are being hosted by the Washington Redskins (0-2) in our week 3 Monday Night Matchup. The Chicago Bears squeaked by the Broncos last week, making a last-minute FG to win the game. I still don’t like Mitch Trubisky, however, he did have a clutch pass down the middle to set up the FG. Other than that he only threw for 120 yards. He’s not good and if the Redskins can exploit that, they can win this game. The Redskins are arguably the best 0-2 team at the moment. After holding their own against the Eagles and the Cowboys, their main goal will be to do whatever they can to score on this STOUT defense. Their offense has been surprisingly prolific, scoring 27 against Eagles and 21 against the Cowboys. If they can score 2 or 3 TDs against the Bears, they should win this game, their first of the season.
Final Prediction: Washington Redskins 24, Chicago Bears 17
