UFC Saudi Arabia 2025: Five Things We Learned

At UFC Saudi Arabia, multiple fighters put on impressive performances. Those performances made statements in their respective divisions. Here are the five biggest lessons we learned during the event.

Nassourdine Imavov Reaches New Heights

In the UFC Saudi Arabia main event, Nassourdine Imavov knocked out Israel Adesanya in the second round. This victory elevates Imavov’s stock to a new height.

Imavov won this fight with his speed and power. The rising contender landed a beautiful right hand in the second round, which hurt Adesanya badly. He followed up with some massive shots that ended the fight.

This was a strong performance from Imavov. It was not a domination, but he ultimately landed a knockout shot. That is impressive considering Adesanya’s striking prowess. Despite his tough run of outcomes, he has not been knocked out in this fashion.

This victory massively elevates Imavov’s stock. This is the type of win that should earn him a title fight. The only problem is the middleweight division currently has a long line of title contenders. Khamzat Chimaev will likely be given the next middleweight title fight, but Imavov should follow him in line.

Israel Adesanya Still Has The Skills

On the losing side of the UFC Saudi Arabia main event, Adesanya suffered another loss and fell to 1-4 in his last five fights. It has to be noted that he looked good and did not seem washed.

Adesanya showed a lot of positive skills throughout this fight. In the first round, he looked sensational. In that round, he was hit with a clean uppercut, but he quickly responded with a counter. Aside from that exchange, he looked clean, controlled the fight, attacked the body, and landed efficiently.

It is hard to know what Adesanya will do moving forward. It is hard for him to walk away from the sport because his skills are slipping. Still, he is losing fights and does not have anything left to prove. The future will be interesting for the sliding superstar.

Michael Page’s Snake Trap Catches Another Fighter

In the UFC Saudi Arabia co-main event, Michael Page picked up a decision victory over Shara Magomedov. This was another performance where Page’s unique striking style led him to victory.

This fight was pretty straightforward. The pair competed in distance striking exchanges and Page was the fighter having success. Page’s darting style was effective and helped him land some impactful shots. Plus, he got creative and landed a few spinning kicks and knees. On the Magomedov side, he managed to land leg kicks, but he struggled to find Page’s chin.

This is exactly what makes Page successful. At a distance, his physical attributes and range management make him a handful to deal with.

Vinicius Oliveira Continues His UFC Run

At UFC Saudi Arabia, Vinicius Oliveira earned a decision win over Said Nurmagomedov. They fought at a ruling pace, but Oliveira was the fighter who found more success when both fighters were tired down the stretch.

In the first round, Nurmagomedov had success with his quick and flashy striking. That speed did not make it out of the first round, however. In the later portions of the fight, Oliveira’s striking took over. In addition, he managed to get takedowns and spend a large amount of time in the top position.

This is a strong victory for Oliveira. It was not the type of fight that showed he could become a future champion. That said, he crafted a game plan to defeat a very talented fighter. That is something that should always be looked fondly upon. Now, he sits at 3-0 in the UFC. It has been a great start for Oliveira.

Fares Ziam Continues To Improve

At UFC Saudi Arabia, Fares Ziam fought Mike Davis. The bout provided both fighters with a chance to show they deserved a ranked opponent. At the end of the bout, Ziam was the fighter who came out on top.

This fight was another step in the right direction for Ziam. In his UFC career, he has continuously made improvements. This demonstrated his grappling improvements. It was not an error-free performance, but his grappling was good enough to survive multiple dangerous positions.

It also has to be noted that Ziam showed a lot of positives in his striking and cardio. The 27-year-old, landed from the outside while adding damaging clinch shots. Plus, his cardio looked great considering the bout’s pace.

Ziam is now 7-2 in the UFC and sits with five consecutive wins. That run should be rewarded with a big opportunity.
