I’ll admit it took me a while to hop on the superior form of social media but since I downloaded Twitter, I haven’t looked back. As a 17 year old who gets clowned for using it by his friends, I’ve had enough. It’s my turn to clown YOU for not being on it. Because if anything, being a Twitter user as a high schooler makes you pretty pretty elite in my book.
Let’s start off with the obvious. Teenagers are addicted to social media. That’s why it makes no sense to me that teenagers aren’t really on Twitter. They have the time and they’re very much in touch with the digital world so why aren’t they interacting with the blue bird app?
On top of that, it’s actually laughable how much better Twitter is than the other social media apps that teenagers are actually addicted to. Are you seriously telling me you would rather open pictures of someone’s face and “snap back” with your face as a form of conversation than use Twitter? Or scroll through pictures of models and unoriginal memes on Instagram?
The app has the unique ability to not only keep you updated with general knowledge and what’s going on around the world but also entertain you with tremendous, original content. And there’s content for everyone. Whether you’re a sports fan, music junkie, foodie, political enthusiast, or interested in any other topic there’s probably a community on the app that’s there for you.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again for the kids of my generation. It’s time to grow up. Say goodbye to streaks and pictures with dog filters because you’re not twelve years old anymore. Make the jump to Twitter and experience what an elite social media experience truly is. You’re welcome, Elon Musk.
