Troy Aikman said that he thinks Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys should be the head coach for the team he owns.
On an episode of The Dave Portnoy Show with Eddie and Co. Troy Aikman joined the show to chop it up with Portnoy. They were discussing the recent successes (or lack there of) of the Cowboys, Aikman’s former team.
“So I have said over the years, It’s kind of tongue and cheek but then its kinda not. I think that Jerry [Jones] should name himself as the head coach. Some of the things that make the job challenging for a head coach would then be different if Jerry of course was the head coach and the guy that everyone had to answer to and was there everyday. That he would be the guy directly criticized when the team was struggling if that makes sense.”

Can you imagine that? It would be an all-time power move to be the coach of the team that you own, be the guy to call the plays, and make the actual decisions on game day.
“I think Jerry would be a really good head coach. If he really invested himself in that role. He is pulled in a million different directions he has a lot going on. He’s got a lot going on, he is a great salesman, we understand that. His impact on the National Football League is phenomenal. His place in the history of our game is going to be extremely prominent.”

Jerry would probably screw that up too, but for the first time he wouldn’t be able to fire a coach or pass the buck onto somebody else.
I think it is every sports fan dream to own a team, and I know if I ever did I would for sure be just as involved as Jerry is in the Cowboys, what is the point of owning a team if you don’t get to chop it up and stay in the mix.
TL//DR: Troy Aikman thinks Jerry Jones should be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
