Trevor Bauer apologizes to Mets fan after this misinformation regarding his signing took over Twitter.
After Bauer signed with the Dodgers, Mets fans were furious about the entire free agency process that came from Bauer and his camp. Although I did not want Bauer on my team (Mets), plenty of fans did. Fans got their hopes up after Bob Nightendale tweeted that he was coming to the Mets, and Bauer had some Mets stuff up on his website.
Why have a Mets hat signed and ready to go if you weren’t planning to sign there? There was also a link in his bio with “LFGM! NEW MERCH” which stems from Pete Alonso using LFGM (Let’s Fucking Go Mets) in a bunch of his social posts to hype up Mets fans.
Bauer went to Twitter and posted an 11 tweet thread apologizing to Mets fans for his actions over the process.
“Mets fans, I owe you an explanation and apology… I woke up early on Friday not knowing what my decision would be and spent the next 5 hours on the phone with my representation team trying to figure that out”

I call BS on that statement, I find it hard to believe that he did not know what he wanted to do, I get that contract negotiations are changing minute by minute, but it is Bauer’s choice so he had to have had an inkling of what was going to happen.
“The plan was to release a link to my website and the appropriate materials via linktree on my Instagram page once my decision was finalized. Unfortunately, that link was posted in error well before any decision had been made… My intention was never to mislead your fan base, nor was it to troll you in any way”

It is hard to say that your intention was not to troll fans when you have a history of being an internet troll and clowning people via social media.
Bauer needs to get his “team” in check, because this was flat out mis information coming from his camp, so something needs to change from within.
He had fans sign up for a raffle for the signed Mets hat, so for that he said he will donate to a bunch of NY based charities and the fans who entered the raffle will instead go into a raffle for Mets vs Dodger tickets next time the teams play in Flushing.
