Tottenham Lands Richarlison On Club Record Deal

Tottenham is building a squad? After finding a way to keep Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, Spurs keep adding to their collection of talent. Spurs are in process of landing Everton striker Richarlison to a club record fee of £50m with as much as £10m in add-ons.

VIA ESPN:

“Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on signing Everton forward Richarlison for what is expected to be a club-record fee in the region of £60 million, sources have told ESPN.

The Brazil international is set to agree terms on a five-year deal and a formal announcement could be made within the next 48 hours.”

The previous club record ever spent by Tottenham came back in 2019 when they added Tanguy Ndombele for £53.8m from Lyon. A deal that didn’t really work out considering Ndombele is back at Lyon.

Watford found a way to get a sneaky pay day with this deal. As part of a former agreement, Watford stand to net 10% of any fee over £40m. The ESPN news story indicates that Everton was facing financial difficulties and was under pressure to sell someone on the roster for a high transfer fee. Steven Bergwijn was offered as part of the deal but Everton held out for a straight cash homie type of transfer payment.

Richarlison is a good get for Spurs. The Brazilian forward scored 53 goals in 152 games for his old club. Heading into his age 25 season and getting to play next to Kane… surely there is a chance Richarlison flourishes in his new environment.

Kuddos to Antonio Conte. He’s not wasting any time trying to build a formidable roster. The Richarlison addition adds to an impressive new incoming group that includes Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, and Clement Lenglet.

Hey, if you’re a soccer fan, I just started a new FIFA 22 series. I know, it’s Arsenal but come check it out anyway. Here is episode one!
