Three Potential Fights for CM Punk Pending a UFC Return

In case you have been living under a rock over the past few days or so, CM Punk went scorched earth at the AEW All Out media scrum. The aftermath of said scrum led to a massive fight between Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite. The rumors about the fight have been the talk of the town since, and suspensions have been handed out to multiple people. Punk might be cut by AEW after this fight, and that got me thinking, let’s say Punk manages to return to the UFC, who/what weight class could he land in? Let’s take a look.

No. 1: Bobby Fish (AKA Robert Fish) (Welterweight)

This is me just dreaming up a fantasy world here, but both guys have experience in kickboxing and jiu-jitsu, plus Fish said recently he would love to fight Punk inside a cage. Now, I do realize this fight would not be exciting AT ALL because both guys are up there in age and slower than mud, but I think this could do Dana White wonders in terms of draw. He could tap into that pro wrestling audience who wants to see Punk get beat up.

No. 2: Bryan Barberena (Welterweight)

If CM Punk really wanted to get back into the pool against another veteran, why not pair the Roufusport and MMA Lab rivalry with Punk facing Bryan Barberena at welterweight? Barberena is on a nice win streak in the UFC, and this could be a money fight that puts his name out there should he earn a resounding win over a guy as popular as Punk.

No. 3: Nick Diaz (Middleweight)

My god, imagine the promos cut by both CM Punk and Nick Diaz. Again, this isn’t going to set the world on fire, but man you put this on the main card like MSG or International Fight Week, you are guaranteed to do numbers. Both guys don’t possess elite speed, so don’t expect fireworks. But both guys are tough as a two-dollar steak, and I think both guys would come out swinging.
