After a disappointing 0-2 start for the Miami Dolphins, the team has decided that things need to change. The team announced Thursday afternoon that Josh Rosen will be replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starting quarterback this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Dolphins coach Brian Flores said Monday that Ryan Fitzpatrick would remain the starter despite the team being outscored 102-10 in the first two games. Fitzpatrick threw 3 interceptions in the week 2 43-0 loss against the New England Patriots, 2 of which were returned for a touchdown.
In two games, Fitzpatrick completed 25-of-50 passes for 274 yards, with a touchdown and four interceptions for a passer rating of 39.9. Rosen is 8-of-21 for 102 yards with two interceptions and a passer rating of 14.5.
Miami traded for Rosen on the second day of the NFL Draft, and the Dolphins need to see Rosen play. Fans will be watching closely hoping that he can be the next franchise quarterback as he was the 10th overall choice in 2018 for a reason. Rosen will become the 21st quarterback to start for the Dolphins since Dan Marino retired in the year 2000.
