Thank you, Donovan Mitchell
Sports media has become dominated by people who say outlandish things in order to earn recognition. It’s what I call hot take culture and has been made popular by the Stephen A. Smiths and Skip Baylesses of the world. But today, I’m not trying to do any of that. I’m simply here to thank Donovan Mitchell for the amazing performance he gave tonight and the benefit it provided my fantasy team.
In my league, Donovan Mitchell scored 109 points. Yes, you read that right, 109 points. Now, that number might be a little different depending on your league’s scoring, but it seems that in pretty much any scoring format he got over 100.
Mitchell was frankly unstoppable tonight. He finished with 71 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds on an amazing 22-of-34 shooting from the field and 7-of-15 from distance. He was a man possessed out there and wasn’t going to accept defeat, as evidenced by the 13 points he scored in overtime to put the Bulls away.
It was a truly beautiful sight made better by the fact that I have him in my fantasy basketball league. This performance would be more noteworthy had Luka Doncic not dropped two 100+ point games in the last week. Regardless, Mitchell’s performance was truly magical, and I, for one, am very grateful for it.
So, thank you again, Donovan Mitchell. I know you probably won’t ever read this, but I still wanted to put it out there. Your performance was appreciated by me tonight and I wanted that to be known. You made my night a little bit better and for that, I genuinely say thank you.
