A Steph Curry Documentary Is in the Works: ‘Underrated’

A24 Producing a Steph Curry Documentary

A24 is producing a documentary about three-time NBA champion and two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry. The film, titled “Underrated,” covers Curry’s incredible March Madness run with the Davidson Wildcats and subsequent rise to fame. Steph led the Wildcats to the Elite Eight of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, averaging 34.3 points per game over the first three games of the tourney. Davidson fell to the Kansas Jayhawks in the Elite Eight game, but Steph Curry became a household name. The Golden State Warriors drafted Curry with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

The documentary will be co-produced by A24, Curry’s production company Unanimous Media, and Ryan Coogler’s production company Proximity Media. A24 saw recent success supporting Uncut Gems, an indie film starring Adam Sandler. Coogler is well-known as the director of Black Panther and Creed. Proximity Media was also part of the production team for Space Jam: A New Legacy, starring LeBron James. Proximity’s Pete Nicks is the director in charge of the new Curry doc.

Unanimous Media, founded by Steph Curry in 2018, is also responsible for ABC’s “Holey Moley,” a mini golf competition show. They also have credits on Netflix’ animated series “Good Times.” Underrated will be Unanimous’ first foray into the documentary film space. The film will also be the first about Stephen Curry.
