The San Francisco 49ers are a team on the rise. Jimmy Garoppolo has turned this franchise upside down. From the depths of hell during the Jim Tomsula era to possibly one of the brightest futures in the entire league under the Kyle Shanahan regime. After the trade for Jimmy G, San Fran ran off 6 straight wins. Garoppolo also hasn’t lost as a starting quarterback in the NFL. It’s now time to bring in as much talent as possible to surround their new franchise signal-caller. What can we expect from the San Francisco 49ers during the 2018 NFL Draft?
With the 9th pick in the draft, the 49ers need to start thinking linebacker. San Fran has really been beefing up their defensive line with Solomon Thomas, DeForrest Bucker, and Arik Armstead. Rueben Foster is a monster but he’s probably going to jail for a long time. Even if he gets away with the accused domestic violence, Foster can’t be counted on. The answer is Roquan Smith who may be the best player in the entire draft. Speed? Check. Range? Check. Coverage skills? Check. Shanahan got to see how good Deon Jones was down in Atlanta. Smith might be even better but has an eerily similar skill set.
In the second round, could we see a run on secondary help? Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon make up a nice cornerback duo. The safety spot, however, is another story. Jaquiski Tartt has some talent but Jimmie Ward is really a Mark Barron linebacker. Eric Reid was even using that role but hasn’t been signed back yet. Let’s give the 49ers a real safety in Ronnie Harrison. The Alabama safety is similar to Landon Collins and can really do it all. Harrison tackles really well and is pro ready getting coached by Nick Saban.
49ers Agree To Contract Extension With Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
I really want to see what running back the 49ers target. Whoever they take will be a fantasy football darling. Jerick McKinnon will be used as a receiving threat for the most part. Carlos Hyde is also gone. However, they take to make sure he is on your fantasy roster.
