Sam Darnold Happier Now That He Is No Longer On The Jets, Shocker
Wow, who would have guessed Sam Darnold is a lot happier on the Carolina Panthers than the New York Jets. He went from Adam Gase to Matt Rhule, Frank Gore to Christian McCaffrey, and who knows the Jets receivers to DJ Moore and Robby Anderson.
Anderson, who was on the Jets for a couple of years when Darnold was there, noted how much happier and energetic Sam looks now that he is in Carolina. Anderson had this to say about Darnold new look with the Panthers.
“I saw like a new energy out of him, a glowing charisma that I didn’t really see in New York… You know when a person, you can see a glow in them, their energy, an aura — I can see that when I walked into the building and just being around him.”

Sam is only 24 and was traded to Carolina in the offseason for a 2021 sixth-round pick and a 2022 second-round and fourth-round pick. Carolina was tired of Teddy Bridgewater’s inability to be a good quarterback after one year, and after a 2-14 season in 2020, it was evident the Jets were going to blow it up. They hired first-time head coach Robert Saleh and drafted BYU’s Zach Wilson.
If I am Darnold, I am ecstatic. First, I get away from Adam Gase, who I am convinced just ruins NFL players. Second, he gets an upgrade at almost every position, including head coach and offensive coordinator with Matt Rhule and Joe Brady. Finally, New York just eats young athletes alive, and it was time for Sam to get out of there. Now he goes to Carolina, where people might care about college basketball more than the NFL.
I am excited to watch this Panthers team. If Darnold can pull a Ryan Tannehill and be a viable quarterback for this Carolina team, this offense could be scary.
