Ryan Fitzpatrick Retires From The NFL
We have seen the end of Fitzmagic. The long time veteran quarterback from Harvard has officially called it quits today. Ryan Fitzpatrick is retiring from the NFL after a 17 year career. It’s about as good of a career that any Ivy League quarterback could have hoped for.
Former teammate with the Bills Fred Jackson (one of the most underrated running backs of all-time I may add) shared the news on Twitter:
Fitzmagic is gone but will never be forgotten. It’s a hell of a career. The former 250th overall pick ended up suiting up for the Rams, Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans, Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins and Washington. Fitzpatrick is so old that he played for the St. Louis Rams…
Fitzy always had the weirdest moments. A long time ago, Karl wrote a blog about weird NFL facts and Fitzpatrick had to be the poster child of the post. During the 2018 season with Tampa, Fitzpatrick averaged 9.6 yards per throw which is the 8th best mark in NFL history. When Fitzpatrick was hot, the man got the job done. At his best, Fitzpatrick was the golden version of Nick Foles.
The good news is we may not have seen the last of Fitzpatrick. He could be headed to Amazon as part of their new NFL coverage. Hopefully, that tickles your Fitzpatrick fancy.
It remains to be seen what he would do as part of the Amazon team but the Kirk Herbstreit and Al Michael pairing for Thursday Night Football seems pretty set. Time will tell if that deal actually gets done but we may not have seen the last of him.
