Report: Deni Avdija Impresses in Workout with Golden State Warriors

Deni Avdija, a top prospect in the 2020 NBA Draft, has reportedly impressed the Golden State Warriors after an interview and a workout. The workout took place Thursday morning, with many members of Golden State’s management in attendance.

This report was first revealed by The Athletic’s Ethan Strauss, who stated that Golden State was “blown away” by the 19-year old former Israeli League star.

Steve Kerr and other members of the Warriors organization worked out Maccabi Tel Aviv prospect Deni Avdija on Thursday morning in Atlanta, according to sources. By all accounts, it was a positive get together, one in which the 19-year-old Israeli impressed observers. Not only did Avdija perform well in the workouts, but Warriors officials were blown away after meeting with him. The universal takeaway was that he’s a “great kid” with an immense work ethic.

The Athletic

Deni Avdija is an exciting prospect. He dominated the Israeli League as a member of the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club. Avdija is a 6’8″ forward with a great shooting stroke and tremendous playmaking ability. He should be a hot commodity in the 2020 NBA Draft, drawing comparisons to former EuroLeague star Luka Doncic.

It bodes well for Avdija that Golden State was impressed with him, as he would be a great fit in the Bay Area. The Warriors always love shooters, so deploying Avdija at the wing would make for a dangerous lineup. It is not yet known what Golden State will do with the second pick. They could still trade back and maybe get Avdija a few picks later. Still, it is certainly news that Golden State was impressed with Avdija.
