Real Madrid Want Harry Kane

Real Madrid want to sign Harry Kane to serve as Karim Benzema‘s replacement.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid views the Tottenham striker as the best option to lead their attack next season.

Benzema will depart Madrid this summer after 14 years at the club in a move to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

During Benzema’s time in Madrid, he won 24 trophies, including five Champions League and four La Liga titles. He also became the club’s second-highest goal scorer with 354 goals, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo in goals for Los Blancos.

Benzema’s departure creates a massive void in Real Madrid’s attack. While the club is close to signing Joselu on a season-long loan from Espanyol, the Spanish striker is only meant to be a backup, not the main man.

Madrid needs a proven goalscorer to step into the starting role and make an immediate impact. This is why the club is so interested in Harry Kane.

Kane has a prolific goal-scoring profile that is matched by only a few players on the planet. The 30-year-old striker has scored 213 Premier League goals and won the Golden Boot award in the 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2020-21 seasons.

Kane scored 30 league goals this year, trailing only Erling Haaland‘s 36-goal tally.

While Kane would likely be the best replacement for Benzema, Real Madrid are not confident they will be able to secure his services.

A fee of around €100 million would likely be required to sign the English striker. This would put a heavy dent in Madrid’s transfer budget, and with moves planned for Jude Bellingham and depth players in other positions, this may be infeasible.

Real Madrid has also recently focused on signing young stars with future upside. Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni all signed for Madrid at a young age. Kane, already in his thirties, would not fit this recent trend.

There is also competition for Kane’s signature. Manchester United have made contact with Tottenham about a potential bid for the striker. Kane might prefer to stay in England instead of moving to Spain.

With all of these potential roadblocks, Madrid are assessing other striker options as well.

Nonetheless, Carlo Ancelotti wants Harry Kane at Real Madrid. Madrid wants to be fighting for Champions League and La Liga titles next year, and in order to do that, they are going to need a reliable striker.

Kane undeniably fits the bill for Real Madrid. The question is, will Los Blancos be able to get him?
