Not even a year ago, the Patriots traded for Trent Brown and sent a mid-round pick swap to the 49ers. Brown started all 16 games for the Patriots and won a Super Bowl in the process. After winning the Super Bowl, Brown hit free agency and got PAID. The Oakland Raiders are signing Trent Brown to become their left tackle. Brown will sign a 4-year deal worth $66 million. Brown will become the highest paid offensive lineman ever.
This move allows 2018 first round pick, Kolton Miller to slide over to right tackle. Miller was horrible as a rookie so hopefully, the move to the right side helps. The Raiders also traded guard Kelechi Osemele to the Jets to open up more cap space. According to Pro Football Focus, Trent Brown had a PFF Grade of 71.0. That was good for the 32nd ranked tackle in the NFL.
The Raiders made Brown the highest paid offensive lineman ever. His $16.5 million per year salary tops Taylor Lewan’s $16 million per year. Brown is a mammoth. That much is certain. Brown, 25, comes in at 6-foot-8 and 360 pounds. The Raiders continue to build around the offense.
Trent Brown isn’t the only Brown coming to Oakland. The Raiders also traded for Antonio Brown. Mike Mayock has been uber aggressive in the early stages of his tenure as Raiders’ gm.
