Pedro Pascal to star in ‘Gladiator 2’
Pedro Pascal seems to be getting all sorts of interesting and great roles these days, from The Mandalorian to The Last of Us to 2022’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Now, another potential hit role has fallen into his lap, with the star slated to appear in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2.
What we know
Currently, we know very little about the sequel to the Oscar-winning historical drama. Beyond the fact that Scott will be directing, we do know that other actresses actors like Denzel Washington will be joining Pascal on the Gladiator 2 project.
We also know about a release date, with Gladiator 2 set to release on November 22, 2024. Now, how accurate that release date will actually be as production goes along will likely be put to the test. However, it seems unlikely Scott will fail to deliver on time with a year and a half in advance.
Then there is the script writer for Gladiator 2, David Scarpa. Scarpa has worked with Scott in the past on projects like All the Money in the World, and is currently working with the director on the upcoming film Napoleon. The latter film ought be a good judge of Scarpa’s talents in the historical genre scene and how well he will write for Gladiator 2.
What we Don’t Know
Some of the more important pieces of this upcoming film are still shrouded in mystery. What will the plot entail? Which other actors and actresses will be joining Pascal, Washington and others?
Then there is the big elephant in the room: How will the Gladiator sequel compare to the original? The first film is an iconic piece of cinema that will be difficult to replicate. So how will it compare in the end? We’ll just have to wait and see.
