Drafting Kolton Miller was a big time flop for the Oakland Raiders. With 3 first round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, they have a chance to do damage. Let’s head inside the war room. (Tom Pennington/Getty Images)

This is going to be a long one. Why? Because the Oakland Raiders have a shit ton of draft picks. The Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trades both brought in a ton of valuable draft picks. Oakland will have 4 of the first 35 picks in the draft with the potential to totally turn this roster around. Will the Raiders actually hit on those picks? That’s a bigger question. Well, I’m here to help them out. As the 2019 NFL Draft is nearing, let’s head inside the war room!

First Round (Pick 4) – The Raiders should be star hunting with the first pick. There are two possibilities. Pick Quinnen Williams or Josh Allen. That’s one option. The other is to trade down and really pick up more draft picks for the future. Does that include Ed Oliver and an extra first rounder? Does that mean Devin Bush plus a 2nd and third? Just because the Raiders have a lot of picks, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look to add more. They need every single one of them.

First Round (Pick 24) – I think Deandre Baker is the pick here or whatever top corner is available. The Raiders have invested in the safety spot with Lamarcus Joyner and Karl Joseph. Nobody knows who the hell is starting at corner on either side. Baker gives the Raiders a plug and play starter right away. Baker isn’t a super elite athlete but he’s a hell of a football player and attacks the ball in the air. He’s a good one.

First Round (Pick 27) – Now the Raiders grab that tight end. They let Jared Cook walk out the door. No need to worry. Irv Smith can fill the void. Antonio Brown can’t be the only weapon if this team is going to win. Smith gives the Raiders a demon who kills people in the middle of the field.

Second Round (Pick 35) – The Raiders cap off an excellent draft by snagging a defensive lineman. Jeffery Simmons caps off a haul of a draft. He will slide in the draft because of injury and character concerns. That’s perfect because the Raiders will take him. Simmons is a top 15 talent in what is a fantastic defensive line class.

Can you imagine if the Raiders wind up with Ed Oliver, and extra 2020 first rounder, Deandre Baker, Irv Smith, and Jeffery Simmons? No way. That’s way too optimistic for the Raiders. This is going to be a big test for Mike Mayock. Don’t screw it up.
