NFL Standings Predictions
Nick Wass/Associated Press

If you know anything about me or have at least read a few of my articles, you’d know I love predicting things. From March Madness brackets to NFL Standings. We’re nowhere near the 2020 NFL season, and I don’t care. These are my official NFL Standings Predictions. Don’t worry, we’ll go division by division, and then line up the standings by conference. In the end, an added bonus: I’m already going to give my prediction of the playoffs. This, of course, will change at the end of the season depending on who makes it to the playoffs, but if I’m 100% right, we won’t have to worry about that. All picks were made through Playoff Predictor. Let’s go:

AFC East Standings

Buffalo Bills: 12-4

Miami Dolphins: 4-12

New England Patriots: 2-14

New York Jets: 2-14

This is probably the easiest division to figure out for our NFL standings predictions. Tom Brady is gone, Dolphins are rebuilding, the Jets are doing whatever the fuck the Jets do. Meanwhile, the Bills have a clear path to be the division winner. If you don’t have the Bills winning this division, please watch some football, I beg of you. I might be disrespecting the other teams in this division because they can all go higher than what I predicted, but as of right now, just note that they won’t be good and near playoff contention.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens: 14-2

Cleveland Browns: 11-5

Pittsburgh Steelers: 9-7

Cincinnati Bengals: 2-14

This division is going to be competitive. Big Ben is coming back, so expect the Steelers to be better this season. The Cleveland Browns hopefully found a competent coach to lead their very talented roster. The Ravens are still the Ravens and are one of the best teams in the NFL. Bengals still need a lot of work, sure you can chalk up a couple more wins, but for what? Pride? Sorry, this is a rebuilding year, let’s just see how Joe Burrow does.

AFC South

Houston Texans: 10-6

Indianapolis Colts: 9-7

Tennessee Titans: 9-7

Jacksonville Jaguars: 1-15

This division is a crapshoot for our NFL standings predictions. There’s only one thing I know for sure, that the Jaguars will be bad. Get your nuts out of a sack if you’re offended by this one. Titans are still a great team. The Colts could be better with Philip Rivers at the helm. The Texans still have Deshaun Watson who can change an entire game by himself. There’s a lot of 50/50 in this division. I tried to keep it as tight as I could. This division is going to get ugly though.

AFC West

Kansas City Chiefs: 14-2

Denver Broncos: 11-5

Las Vegas Raiders: 10-6

Los Angeles Chargers: 7-9

I. HATE. THIS. DIVISION. If you don’t know, the Raiders are my beloved team, and I can even be happy they are improving because so is the rest of my division. You’re probably surprised I have them at 10-6. Don’t sleep, they addressed some needs on defense and added weapons on offense, this Raiders team will be better. I said they would be 8-8 last year and they went 7-9. 10-6 is not out of the question. The Chargers have a crazy talented team except for two things. Bad Head Coach in Anthony Lynn and the question at QB. Justin Herbert is a bust to me. Tyrod Taylor doesn’t scream “We’ll be good!” to me. Tyrod is unproven and if he starts, he needs to perform immediately. That’s the only reason why I have them so low. The Broncos defense is still stingy as ever and the fact they gave Drew Lock some weapons? Yikes, this team is scary. Don’t be surprised when they win some good games this year. The Chiefs are still the Chiefs and are the reigning champions. May I say more?

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles: 11-5

Dallas Cowboys: 11-5

New York Giants: 2-14

Washington Redskins: 2-14

Let me be clear: I think the Cowboys are miles better than the Eagles. But I think Wentz is a better QB. I’m not sure how I have the Eagles over the Dallas Cowboys, but I do. They could bot be #1 in their division, just know I don’t care which one. The Giants and Redskins can be better than 2-14. That’s just how I picked their games, but we can all agree that they won’t be near the playoff race.

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings; 11-5

Green Bay Packers: 10-6

Chicago Bears: 5-11

Detroit Lions: 5-11

I’m not high on the Vikings or the Packers. I just think their schedule comes in handy. Vikings have a lot of winnable games and have probably the best roster in this division. There’s the Aaron Rodgers factor though. He’s just tremendous and will win games single-handily. Either way, I have both these teams making the playoffs. The Bears are regressing because they can’t find a QB. Mitch Trubisky is garbage and Nick Foles got beat out by a rookie last year, so their QB situation is a mess. Their defense lost pieces too, I just can’t see the Bears being any good this year. The Detroit Lions should be better, just not fast enough. They’re slowly addressing needs that they have, maybe next year?

NFC South

New Orleans Saints: 14-2

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 10-6

Carolina Panthers: 3-13

Atlanta Falcons: 2-14

Once again, don’t focus too much on the records of the Panthers or the Falcons, I just don’t have them near playoff contention, they can be way better than their win total. Probably no higher than 6 wins for both. I’m big on the Saints this year (Foreshadowing). They’ve been right there for years now and I think this is the year, and it might be the last year that it can be the year. Drew Brees is approaching retirement and he might not even have what it takes this year. Either way, this Saints team is good and I believe in them. I’ve been against the Bucs ever since they got Brady. Just know, that this 10-6 season is the absolute best case, the highest ceiling that I will give them. I don’t truly believe they will even do this good but I’m giving the Bucs and Tom Brady benefit of the doubt. They still don’t make the playoffs at 10-6 in this NFL standings predictions scenario though so suck it.

NFC West

San Francisco 49ers: 13-3

Seattle Seahawks: 12-4

Los Angeles Rams: 9-7

Arizona Cardinals: 9-7

Both of the West divisions are competitive, good Lord. This one has two clear winners though. The 49ers are going to try to compete for another Super Bowl and it is definitely feasible. You much wonder why I have the Seahawks so high. I’ve watched enough football to know that Russell Wilson is a good enough answer for that. As long as that guy plays football, his team will always be good, you can’t convince me otherwise. The Cardinals will make a nice jump here, their offense is electric enough to stay in any game. Their defense will let them down, but they are on the right track for competing for the playoffs next year. Now let’s get to our NFL standings predictions by the conference.

AFC Conference Standings

1. Kansas City Chiefs: 14-2

2. Baltimore Ravens: 14-2

3. Buffalo Bills: 12-4

6. Denver Broncos: 11=5

10. Tennessee Titans: 9-7

11. Los Angeles Chargers: 7-9

12. Miami Dolphins: 4-12

13. New England Patriots: 2-14

14. New York Jets: 2-14

15. Cincinnati Bengals: 2-14

16. Jacksonville Jaguars: 1-15

Playoff Predictions

AFC Wild Card

#2 Baltimore Ravens vs. #7 Las Vegas Raiders

#3 Buffalo Bills vs. #6 Denver Broncos

#4 Houston Texans vs. #5 Cleveland Browns

The Ravens should handle the Raiders fairly easily. I think that the Broncos and Bills game is the most competitive out of the AFC. I’m giving a slight edge towards the Bills though. If the Browns are as good I am predicting, I don’t think they have any problems with the Texans and win that game.

NFC Wild Card

#2 San Francisco 49ers vs #7 Green Bay Packers

#3 Minnesota Vikings vs. #6 Dallas Cowboys

#4 Philadelphia Eagles vs #5 Seattle Seahawks

The 49ers should have enough to overpower the Packers here. The Cowboys are a better team than the Vikings, just with the division winners, the seeding is all out of whack. The Seahawks and Eagles should be the most competitive out of this NFC wild card.

AFC Divisional Round

#1 Kansas City Chiefs vs. #5 Cleveland Browns

#2 Baltimore Ravens vs. #3 Buffalo Bills

I don’t think the Browns or the Bills stand a chance against these two juggernauts. I think Chiefs and the Ravens in the AFC title game is inevitable.

NFC Divisional Round

#1 New Orleans Saints vs. #6 Dallas Cowboys

#2 San Francisco 49ers vs #5 Seattle Seahawks

Just like the AFC, I can’t see the Cowboys or the Seahawks beating two juggernauts like the Saints or the 49ers. I think the NFC title game is already set.

Conference Championships

#1 Kansas City Chiefs vs # Baltimore Ravens

#1 New Orleans Saints vs. # 2 San Francisco 49ers

These are the games we waited to see. I think the Ravens win this game, either that, or I really want the Chiefs to lose. Either wa, RAvens to the Super Bowl. This game was a doozy last year, and it should be the same this year. The Saints can and should win this game, it’s destiny.

Super Bowl

#1 New Orleans Saints vs #2 Baltimore Ravens

THIS IS THE SAINTS YEAR. I am rooting for my man Drew Brees and hoping he ends his career as one of the best QBs to ever do it winning another Super Bowl. This sparked some controversy on Twitter.

Man, that was a lot. If you think I am crazy for doing all of this, I have two facts for you.: I am absolutely crazy, and there’s nothing I appreciate more than predicting something and being right. That concludes my NFL: Standings Predictions & more. Here’s to the NFL 2020 season!
