Miami Adds Four-Star Corner Damari Brown
Miami football has added to its 2023 recruiting class with four-star cornerback Damari Brown. Brown is ranked No. 187 in the class of 2023, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Brown played his high school ball at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In his senior season, he put his lengthy 6′ 1″ frame on display. Brown projects as a boundary corner that can play man coverage.
Brown had a tight recruiting race as Miami fought Alabama and Florida State for his services. Ultimately, Miami was able to pull ahead. This should not come as a surprise and Brown’s father, Selwyn Brown, won a national championship at Miami in 1987. More importantly, his brother, Davonte Brown, transferred to Miami yesterday.
Brown is an essential addition to Miami’s recruiting class. Miami currently has a great 2023 recruiting class; however, their top commit, cornerback Cormani McClain, did not sign his letter of intent on national signing day. McClain is the No. 2 player in the 2023 recruiting class and it looks like teams are trying to pry him away from Miami. Most notable, are Colorado and Alabama.
If McClain flips, Miami will be able to look to Brown to help fill his shoes. The Hurricanes also have four-star corner Robert Stafford who can help with that as well.
Miami currently has the No. 4 class in 2023 in the 247 Sports composite team rankings. This is led by three five-star recruits. The most notable is the aforementioned McClain, but Miami also has five-star tackles Samson Okunlola and Francis Mauigoa in the fold. With that being said, Miami has bulked up its 2023 haul with 15 four-star recruits.
Miami currently has 26 recruits in their 2023 recruiting class which gives them wiggle room to add a few more elite players before the end of this recruiting cycle.
