Week 7 is here and the Eagles travel to Metlife Stadium to take on the Giants this week. Saquon Barkley isn’t the only one making his return to Metlife this week. Mekhi Becton was originally drafted by the Jets but signed a one year deal with the Eagles this offseason.
Becton, 25, wants you to know that he hates Metlife Stadium and isn’t very excited to go play there again. The turf at Metlife Stadium has been a hot topic issue for many players and Becton appears to be one of them.
“I don’t wanna play in that shitty stadium,” Becton said, via Jeff Kerr of CBSSports.com. “It’s bad. Everything is just bad about that stadium. I don’t really like it. I’m just glad I only gotta do it one time a year. Just gotta go in there, do my 1-11 and go home.”
“You can just tell the difference like if you was to get on that turf and (then) go on a different turf,” Becton told CBS. “You can tell. It’s a night and day difference in turf. It just feels lifted. There’s a lot of things that doesn’t feel right about that turf.”
He added: “I just don’t understand why if you have an outdoor stadium, why not just have grass. Just for anybody. It just don’t make sense to me.”
It’s hard to totally ignore these comments despite the fact that Becton sucked with the Jets and all of the injuries he suffered in the past came on the road. However, after what happened to Aaron Rodgers last year, you would think it would be something they looked into switching the field to a grass field.
