Major NFL games set for 2023 Europe Tour — Jaguars at Wembley, Titans at Tottenham

The NFL announced Thursday the five teams that will be playing international games during the 2023 season: the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter released a graphic of where each team will be playing.

In London, the Bills and Jaguars will play in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is the only “purose-built NFL stadium” outside the U.S., according to the league. The Jaguars will also be playing in the familiar Wembley Stadium.

Football will also return to Germany again as the NFL continues to try and expand its global influence, with the Chiefs and Patriots taking a visit. The exact location of the games has yet to be determined. My best guess would be Munich, due to the success it saw this past year, and Frankfurt, seeing as it’s part of the four-year agreement the league made with Germany.

This season’s clash between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks was hugely successful and led the NFL to increase the number of games in Germany to two.

Dates, times and matchups have yet to be decided and won’t be announced until schedules are released. But with the increased viewership the NFL saw this past year overseas, it’s clear the league is focusing on playing games in as many countries as possible.

Where does the league go from here?

The question then becomes where the NFL will expand to next. Games in Mexico have seen positive results, but current renovations prevent games from being played there in the near future.

There have been talks of the NFL stretching its reach into either France or Spain. The numbers show that it would bring in a lot of new viewers and money. It makes sense given the success it’s seen everywhere else, so I think it’s really only a matter of time before we see games there.

But for now, we have the games in London and Germany — fans in those countries I’m sure will be very happy. I love the idea of people being introduced to the greatness that is American football. It’s truly beautiful and will hopefully be played in more countries in the future.
