Logan Director in talks to direct ‘Swamp Thing’ — Reports
Oscar winning director James Mangold is reportedly in talks to direct Swamp Thing, one of the newest DC superhero projects to be announced by DC Studios. Mangold, famous for his work on films like Logan and Ford v Ferrari, is currently finishing up the last bits of work on his other film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, with the film slated to hit theaters in May.
The Supernatural Swamp Monster
Mangold, already a huge comic book fan, is reportedly a huge fan of the character. Swamp Thing, originally created in 1971, is considered one of DC’s lesser-known characters within their arsenal. According to Discussing Film, Swamp Thing is to be DC’s biggest dive into the horror genre yet.
However, the character’s story won’t end with just one film. According to co-CEO at DC Studios James Gunn, the character will have a further purpose within the rebooted DCU after his horror debut.
“This is a much more horrific film, but we’ll still have Swamp Thing interact with the other characters,” Gunn said.
Wading Out of the Swamp?
Swamp Thing is one of Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran’s more ambitious projects to be a part of the overall reboot of the struggling franchise. But only time can tell if the DCU will finally hit a solid foundation under the director-producer team or continue to sink further into the muck the franchise has still not been able to fully wade out of.
