Legendary Film Director Teases Dead Space Movie
The popular and famous horror movie director John Carpenter, responsible for some of the most successful horror movies of all time, has just hinted at a new project based on the popular horror video game series Dead Space. The director however claims that he isn’t involved.
Carpenter, already a massive fan of the sci-fi horror game, has previously talked about making a film based on the games. According to Gamespot Carpenter has been interested in making a Dead Space movie since 2013. And that interest hasn’t gone away, with Carpenter repeatedly expressing interest on a project like this for nearly a decade.
In a recent interview with Variety Carpenter was asked about his interest in making a Dead Space movie. Carpenter backtracked on the idea of being involved in such a project. However, he mentioned that “another director” was involved. Suggesting that a Dead Space movie is more than just an idea.
“I was down looking at the new digital cameras, the RED, and happened to mention to them that I would love to do a “Dead Space” film. That just went around, and everybody said, ‘Oh, when are you gonna do it?’ I’m not gonna do it. I think they already have another director involved. And they haven’t asked me to do it. So until someone asks me, I wouldn’t do it.”
So while Carpenter isn’t on this supposed Dead Space project, his comments have certainly sparked interest within the community. With a new remake of the original Dead Space set to release January 27th, 2023, Carpenter and the rest of the fanbase will have their hands plenty full with new content and speculation for the future of the franchise.
