One of the things that LeBron James is most known for is having zero concept for how to build a team. The fact that he begged for James Jones to be on the roster while never playing in any game is just one of 800 examples. This next story I’m about to tell you may just be the single worst idea LeBron ever had. Kendrick Perkins, a former teammate of LeBron, says that LeBron James begged the Cavs to trade for Carmelo Anthony. Management told him no.
Before you scoff at Kendrick Perkins, he’s actually proven to be very reliable. Perkins broke the news on Rajon Rondo‘s latest contract with the Lakers. Before, Woj, Shams, Stein, or Haynes; Perk had the story on Rondo. Like Rondo, Perkins has spent a significant amount of time with LeBron. I highly doubt he’s lying.
This is down right funny. Could you imagine if the Cavs would have pulled the trigger on a Melo deal? I would assume that Kevin Love would have to be part of the deal. They couldn’t have made it work financially without him. We both know that Triston Thompson wasn’t going in the deal either because he’s a Klutch client. This request could have happened anywhere between 2015-2017. Melo was dealt to the Thunder in 2017. Cleveland never wins a championship with Melo instead of Love. I can guarantee that.
This is the sort of thing that proves how dumb LeBron is as a basketball mind. Carmelo Anthony is the single biggest cancer in league history. The fact that LeBron wanted him tells you all that you need to know.
