The Blazers have wildly underperformed this year. Which doesn’t make a lot of sense as their roster is definitely better than last year’s roster. However, they are playing better now that they acquired Carmelo Anthony. Is that enough to meet their expectations for this season though? I doubt it. They could use a big man. ESPN’s Zach Lowe suggested Kevin Love to add to the Kevin Love trade rumors surrounding him, as a player the Blazers could target, via The Oregonian’s Tim Brown
“To me, one of the interesting questions about [the Blazers] is they are going to be a team that is talked about with Kevin Love. When Cleveland inevitably crosses the Rubicon and realizes there’s just no reason to have Kevin Love on that team, he deserves to be on a winner and says, ‘let’s make this happen,’ Portland’s name is gonna come up. Because if you put a play-making screen-setter who can shoot next to Dame and CJ, that’s a problem. Now the questions around the league is, ‘is Kevin Love a more of a center than a power forward?’ and if so, does he fit with Nurkic, or does he not fit with Nurkic? Or do we need to find more of a true 4 than Kevin Love? I don’t know the answers to that. But I would like to see that a lot.”
Kevin Love Trade Rumors Packages
To make the deal happen, there’s plenty of options. But the most notable difference is to add Hassan Whiteside or not. If they add Hassan Whiteside in trade talks, it makes the contract situation a lot easier. Which you could just include picks, Hassan Whiteside, and a player or two. Or there’s another way via The Oregonian’s Tim Brown:
“What I think is interesting, too, is they’re gathering up assets. Getting Nassir Little in the back end of the draft … he’s a real talent. That’s a guy everyone thought was gonna go in the top ten. That was HUGE,” Lowe said. “I’ve talked to people around the league and it’s almost like Portland had a lottery pick. To have him and Anfernee Simons, who they’re very high on … Now you mentioned … can they get a center?”
With that said, the only other option that would work is including Kent Bazemore in trade talks. This makes the contracts work. With Kent Bazemore, you’d have to give up a couple of young pieces and maybe a pick, but for a shot at a title run, it might be worth it. We’ll try to update with more rumors, like the Kevin Love trade rumors, as time goes on in the season.
