It’s time for another 2020 NFL Draft profile. This time we’re going to be talking about Michigan edge rusher, Josh Uche. In a thin pass rushing class, Uche is the one player in the middle rounds who could end up making a big impact. After Chase Young, there is a lot of guessing with the pass rushers. Uche is a player with a lot of promise. Let’s break down the former Wolverine in this 2020 NFL Draft.

There is one stat that stands out with Uche. The Michigan product had a win rate of 27.1 percent over the past two years. Not Chase Young, Josh Uche wins this category. That is the highest rate in college football. Whether Uche gets the sack or not, he has created havoc on a consistent basis.

Another box you can check for Uche is his Senior Bowl performance. Uche played like a man on fire all week. I don’t have any video highlights on Uche but all I wrote in my notes is that he kept winning.

I was able to find this one. Calvin Throckmorton got killed the whole game. Uche showed off his speed around the corner here.

Check out his coverage ability. Not bad for a future 3-4 outside linebacker.

I think people are really sleeping on Uche. Over the last 2 years, Uche has 14.5 sacks. In 2018, he was a part time player behind Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich. Uche found a way to get sack production anyway. He checks in at 6-foot-1, 245, with 33 5/8 inch arms. 18 reps at the bench is respectable as well.

I thought this clip was interesting. It shows what kind of skillset Uche brings to the table. For the record, he’s going up against Tristan Wirfs here who will probably go inside the top 10 of the 2020 NFL Draft. Wirfs probably wins the battle but Uche makes life difficult.

You can see Uche is able to get some bull rushes in with those long arms. He didn’t work out at the combine but you can see he has some twitch to him. Heavy hands and great bend around the corner. It’s hard to find an edge rusher who even looked this good against Tristan Wirfs all year.

Uche really is a complete package. Good athleticism for the position and even has a the ability to cover down field. Add in the sack production in the Big 10 and some sneaky performances in the Senior Bowl. Uche could be a player that surprises people at the NFL level.
