The mystery man Jim Tomsula has won the job to become the 49ers head coach, but who exactly is Jim Tomsula? Tomsula has spent the last eight seasons as the 49ers defensive line coach. The only prior head coaching experience Jim has held was back in 2010 as interim coach following the Mike Singletary departure. Denver offensive coordinator Adam Gase was the other finalist. In the end, San Francisco must have felt Gase was not a great match for quarterback Colin Kaepernick. While the 49ers did go with the most familiar face fans must be concerned.
If San Fran fails to find an adequate offensive coordinator Tomsula will not have a job for very long. In the end, the 49ers traded the great Jim Harbaugh for an experienced defensive line coach! Pete Carroll and the rest of Seattle must be smiling from ear to ear. I can’t see any way the 49ers don’t take a major step back this season. I guess 3 NFC title appearances in 4 years isn’t good enough in today’s NFL……..The 49ers are in trouble.
