Jermar Jefferson is one of the most unknown running backs in the entire draft process. The Oregon State running back had a productive year in college but seems to be totally slept on. As a multi versatile back, Jefferson has some skills to make it in the league. Let’s check out the Jermar Jefferson 2021 NFL Draft profile.
The LA native has been a mainstay with the Beavers since his freshman season. Jefferson garnered Freshman All-American and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year awards. That’s no small feat. Especially for an Oregon State running back. In 2020, Jefferson was the All-First team Pac 12 running back. On the season, Jefferson amassed 133 carries, 858 yards, 6.5 yards per carry, seven touchdowns in six starts.
Jefferson had limited receiving numbers in college but always looked electric with the ball in his hands. The Oregon State product will likely slot in as a change of pace back. The pass catching numbers aren’t off the charts but we’ve seen him do it and thrive in that area.
Standing at 5-foot-10, 206, there’s some concern that maybe he’s not the fleetest of foot. A 4.55 – 40 time is more than fine. Then again, who knows with the Pro Day times this year. Maybe the speed isn’t off the charts, but the change of direction ability is all there. All I know is Jefferson kicked the snot out of in state rival Oregon winning that game by himself.
I think Jefferson processes information quickly. He hits the right hole and is more powerful than he gets credit. The footwork is there and Jefferson has shown an ability to make a man miss. The one downside Jefferson needs to clean up is three fumbles in six starts just ain’t it chief.
Jermar Jefferson is just outside my top 10 list of running backs for the 2021 NFL Draft. Probably number 11 and I may even be tempted to slot him in over Demetric Felton. Jefferson could easily be one of those late round running backs that makes a name for himself and flourishes.
