There’s always a few pieces on very talented teams that get forgotten. Unfortunately for Jaylen Brown, that seems to be the case for him. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing. Brown is having him a career year for the Celtics. But whenever I, or other fans, think of the Celtics, we always seem to forget Jaylen Brown. It’s not his fault though, He’s overshadowed by just the more talented OR recognizable players on the team. Players like Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, and Marcus Smart. All of these players come to mind before Jaylen Brown.
Jaylen Brown Stats
As I mentioned, Jaylen Brown is having a CAREER year. He’s averaging 20.1 PPG on 49.5% shooting, including almost 40% from 3. Brown is also averaging 6.6 RPG, 2.4 APG, and 1.2 SPG. In all of these categories, he is having a career-high this year. You wouldn’t have known that if I didn’t tell you. His 20.1 PPG ranks 3rd on the team, only 2.2 PPG behind the leader. However, from those top 3, which includes Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown has the highest FG% and 3P% of those 3. His 6.6 RPG also ranks 3rd on the team, only 1.6 RPG behind the leader Enes Kanter.
The reason for this article is giving Jaylen Brown the deserved recognition he should have. Without his production, I don’t know if the Boston Celtics are anywhere close to where they are at. Brad Stevens maybe could have managed without him, given that he’s one of the best coaches there is, but who knows. They are current 1.5 games out of 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. Brown is a big reason for that. However, we as fans often forget that he exists on this talented Boston Celtics team. He’s truly a forgotten key piece for the Celtics, but without him, Celtics are nowhere near as good.
