“Ah Sh*t, here we go again!”
While Grand Theft Auto VI doesn’t appear to be on the way any time soon, with Rockstar instead delivering GTA V to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, we may well be on the receiving end of something different: a remastered GTA trilogy.
While nothing is confirmed officially, Kotaku have reportedly confirmed with their sources that Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas will be coming to PS4/5, Xbox One/Series, and Nintendo Switch later this year. PC, Google Stadia and Mobile Versions are set to come next year.
There is no word on whether or not the titles will fall under the remake or remaster banner, but the graphics are said to have been revamped in the Unreal Engine. The UI and gameplay however are reported to remain faithful to the originals.
Plans on how these games are set to be released have changed a lot over the last year or so, but currently, it looks like Rockstar is intending to release them in one package as a digital exclusive before the Christmas period.
What is guaranteed is these won’t just be basic ports, since they already occupy the PS4/5 as HD emulations of the PS2 titles with trophies. Whether or not the original PS2 titles will be delisted or not upon the games’ release remains up in the air.
