Giannis Antetokounmpo: ‘More Difficult’ To Stay With Bucks If Team Fails To Reach Goals

Giannis Antetokounmpo says it will be more difficult to stay with Milwaukee if the team fails to reach it’s goal. UH OH! The pressure is on the Bucks to really win a title in the next two years. (Jeff Hanisch/USA TODAY Sports)

Giannis Antetokounmpo is guaranteed to stay with the Bucks for two more years. The Greek Freak will hit free agency during the summer of 2021. Although Giannis previously said he does not want to talk about free agency, today he talked about free agency. Is Giannis a lock to stay with Milwaukee? These comments will have you sweating if you’re a Bucks fan.

VIA: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

“I want the Bucks to build a winning culture,” Elberse and her co-author, master’s student Melcolm Ruffin, quoted Antetokounmpo as saying. “So far, we have been doing great, and, if this lasts, there’s no other place I want to be. But if we’re underperforming in the NBA next year, deciding whether to sign becomes a lot more difficult.”

Talk about the last thing you want to hear right before the Bucks season starts. It might be championship or bust for the Bucks. Who knows? All we know is the door has been opened for an eventual Antetokounmpo departure. Something that might crush the entire economy of Wisconsin. A lot of things can change in two years. Two more years of getting sick of Khris Middleton as your best sidekick? Maybe that’s not enough?

The only annoying part of this is that you already know the media won’t let this go. It’s a weak free agent class this upcoming year. Then next year we’re going to get hammered with Giannis talk every single day. Enough to make you want to stick a fork in your eye. The pressure is on in Milwaukee. Win and you keep your star. Easy enough?
