Rob Gronkowski is coming to a TV near you. What? Yeah, Gronk is going to be a football analyst. Fox Sports has hired Gronk as a regular analyst on Fox NFL Sunday. This is incredible news. It may just get me to start watching the Fox pregame show again.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the news:

Well, that throws cold water on my idea of Gronk returning to the Patriots. I thought it just made too much sense not to happen. The Patriots are in desperate need of a tight end. Ben Watson just got cut. It’s down to Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo. Not a group that inspires confidence. In fact, I think you could say it’s the worst tight end group in the NFL.

That doesn’t mean Gronk can’t theoretically come back. The Patriots quietly need him. Antonio Brown is gone. Josh Gordon is struggling with some injuries. Phillip Dorsett just got hit with a bad hamstring. N’Keal Harry is already on IR. It’s getting real thin. Let’s hope Gronk pulls a Jay Cutler and cancels on his FOX deal.

I think this is a great pick up for FOX. He’s going to bring a WWE element to the coverage. I can’t wait to see the goofy things that he’s going to say. The Fox pregame staff is already packed. They have Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, and Michael Strahan. The other Fox pregame show includes Colin Cowherd, Tony Gonzalez, Michael Vick, Charrisa Thompson, and Dave Wannstedt. How Gronk fits in I have no idea. They already have a ton of people on set.

Give credit to Fox. They have made a concerted effort to bring in high profile names. Whether they’re good or not, FOX is trying. The college football show Fox puts together is packed with big names including Urban Meyer. I’m going to have to check Fox out this week. I’ll check back in to see if I like what they have cooking.
